The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign has been fully remastered with improved textures, animations, physically based rendering, high-dynamic range lighting, and much more." — Official Description Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered [2] is a remastered version of the singleplayer campaign of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The game was primarily developed by Beenox. Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was released on March 31, 2020 for PlayStation 4, and was released on April 30, 2020 for Xbox One and PC. Overview Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered only features the campaign of Modern Warfare 2 including the Museum level. The remaster works in a similar way to the remaster of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, sharing the same engine with various enhancements in terms of visual and audio design. Character models are highly realistic and detailed with some of them having a new character design. The game also features a few tweaked scenes such as the FSB soldier checking on Pvt. Joseph Allen's body would knock Allen's rifle aside and Gary "Roach" Sanderson would grab General Shepherd's arm as he picked the DSM up who sneers at Roach and yanks his arm out of Roach's grasp, along with the Shadow Company soldier who soaks Roach and Ghost in gasoline looking at them burn instead of the original where he just walks off. At the start of Team Player, a short cutscene not present in the original game is shown where an RPG-7's rocket hits the jeep that Pvt. Allen is riding in, explaining why in the original game he was laying on the ground as soon as the level started. Most weapons now have different reloading animations compared to the original guns along with different sounds when firing along with most of the weapons being properly modeled after their real-life counterparts. Voice acting in the form of heavy breathing and pained moans and grunts when the player is injured. Radio chatter is also improved in quality making it easier to hear. The other small details included Roach killing a Russian soldier sitting in a chair in Cliffhanger, Soap coughing up water near the end of Endgame and new animations for knifing the dying Shadow Company soldiers in the helicopter wreck and Price's hat falling off during his fight with Shepherd. Three major easter eggs were added. One is a reference to the "Stealth Clown" joke within the community back in 2009, Yuri being a physical NPC in the infamous No Russian mission and killing Shepherd at the start of awards the player with a trophy, Precognitive Paranoia, making reference to the Time Paradox achievement that the player gets for killing Makarov in Modern Warfare Remastered. Weapon models are upgraded with more details, and most of reload animations are redesigned. For example, when reloading an empty M1014 or W1200, the character puts a shotgun shell into the chamber first, then loads other rounds normally. It is the first time this kind of reloading animation appears in a Call of Duty game. Weapon inspection is included in the game as well. Plot In 2016, 5 years after Modern Warfare, despite the efforts of the United States Marine Corps and the Special Air Service, the Ultranationalists defeated the Loyalists forces, seized control of Russia and declared Imran Zakhaev a hero and martyr, erecting a statue of him in the heart of the Red Square. Meanwhile, Vladimir Makarov, one of Zakhaev's former lieutenants begins a campaign against Europe by committing brutal acts of terrorism over the course of 5 years. In Afghanistan, Army Ranger PFC Joseph Allen assists his commanding officer, Sergeant Foley in training the local soldiers until he is called to run a training course overseen by Lieutenant General Shepherd who is recruiting one of the Rangers for a special operation. After completing the course, Allen and the rest of the 75th Ranger Regiment assists in the taking of a city from the local OpFor soldiers. Impressed by Allen's abilities, Shepherd recruits him into "Task Force 141", an elite, multi-national counter-terrorist unit under Shepherd's command. Meanwhile, the other two members of the TF 141, Captain John 'Soap' MacTavish and Sergeant Gary 'Roach' Sanderson infiltrated a Russian airbase in the Tian Shan mountains to retrieve an ACS Attack Characterization System module from a downed satellite. During their infiltration, Soap orders Roach to plant explosives to cover their escape, but is compromised while retrieving the ACS. While they are pursued by the enemy forces, both men managed to escape with the module. Allen was sent on an undercover mission in Russia for the CIA, joining Makarov disguised as a terrorist named Alexei Borodin in a massacre of civilians at Zakhaev International Airport in Moscow. While they managed to evade capture by the Russian forces, Makarov, aware about Allen's identity, kills him during the extraction, leaving his body to spark a war between Russia and the United States of America. Angered by what was believed to be an American-supported terrorist attack, Russia retaliates with a massive surprise invasion on the United States after bypassing its early warning system, revealing that the ACS module that MacTavish and Sanderson recovered was already compromised before its retrieval. In the 75th Ranger Regiment, Foley leads his squad including Corporal Dunn and Allen's replacement, Private James Ramirez in defense of a suburb in Northeastern Virginia against the Russian paratroopers. During their assault in a Russian occupied suburban neighborhood, Shepherd contacts Foley and orders his squad to extract an HVI, claiming that he has intel vital to the war effort. Upon arriving at the HVI's safe house, Sgt. Foley and his squad discovered the safe house breached and the HVI murdered along with several deceased soldiers bearing odd tattoos. Foley takes notice that the safe room was not forcefully breached as Dunn checks the bodies for intel. They proceeded towards a war-torn Washington, where the forces are fighting the Russians for control of the capital city. Sgt. Foley and his squad proceeded to the Russian occupied Capitol Building where they are tasked with destroying the emplaced AA guns that prevented the Army from evacuating the civilians. They provided air support for the forces onboard a helicopter, but are shot out of the sky. The squad, running low on ammunition made a last stand against the Russian Army before a sudden flash halted their attack. Meanwhile, TF 141 searches for evidence that implicates Makarov as the mastermind behind the airport massacre as all proof of Makarov's involvement died with Allen. The intelligence leads them to a Favela in Rio de Janeiro where the team investigates the leads on Makarov's contact and weapons dealer named Alejandro Rojas. They found out from Rojas that Makarov's worst enemy known as Prisoner 627 is locked up in a Russian gulag in Petropavlosk. On the orders of Shepherd, the Task Force was sent to infiltrate an oil platform off the coast of Russia in order to rescue several hostages before assaulting the gulag. The Task Force assaults the prison and manages to free 627 who is revealed to be Captain John Price who was previously captured during Operation Kingfish. Price agrees to aid Soap and Shepherd in tracking Makarov down with Soap handing the command of the unit over to Price. While Shepherd believes that they must continue their hunt for Makarov, Price decides that ending the war in America is their first priority. To end it, he temporarily goes rogue and leads the TF 141 on a raid of a Russian port where they gained control of a nuclear submarine. Price uses the submarine to launch a ballistic missile towards Washington, He sets the warhead to detonate in the upper atmosphere, unintentionally destroying the International Space Station and creating an electromagnetic pulse, crippling vehicles and electronic equipment on both sides and giving the Americans a slight advantage. Back in the United States, Ramirez and his fellow squadmates seeked shelter from the disabled aircraft that are now literally falling from the sky and proceeded to the White House after running into Private Vaughan who tells the squad that Colonel Marshall is assembling whatever forces that he can to retake the White House which is now a stronghold for the Russian Army. After finally meeting Marshall, he orders the squad that taking the White House is their top priority, but they received a transmission informing them that the Air Force is preparing to carpet bomb the entire city to deny the Russians a strong foothold. Foley's squad fought their way to the White House and setted the green flares off in the nick of time, aborting the airstrike. The green flares are lit on the rooftops of the other landmarks, signifying that the city is still in American hands. Angered over the destruction of the Capital, Foley, Dunn and the rest of the Rangers vowed vengeance against the Russians, claiming that they will burn Moscow to the ground as they did with Narrowing Makarov's hiding place down to the two separate locations, TF 141 decides to split up. Price and Soap traveled to an aircraft boneyard in Afghanistan while Roach and Ghost raided Makarov's safe house on the Georgian-Russian border. At the safe house, Roach and his team obtained the vital intelligence from Makarov's computer and escaped with Makarov's men in pursuit. However, when they reached the extraction point, Shepherd betrays them, retrieving the intelligence and taking it with him, murdering Roach and Ghost and burning their bodies in the process. Price and MacTavish quickly learned about Shepherd's betrayal, though Price states that he wasn't betrayed since he never trusted Shepherd. The duo managed to escape from an already ongoing battle between Shepherd and Makarov's men with Nikolai's help. After contacting Makarov and offering to kill Shepherd for him, Makarov grudgingly reveals Shepherd's location at a mountain base in Afghanistan, codenamed Site Hotel Bravo. Price and MacTavish raided the base in an attempt to take revenge on Shepherd in a suicide mission. During the infiltration, Shepherd tries to escape on a Zodiac motorboat and a long boat pursuit ensues. At the climax of the pursuit, Shepherd boards a Pave Low only for Price to disable it by shooting the helicopter's rotor, causing a crash landing. Price and Soap tumbled over a waterfall in the process. After recovering from the fall, a dazed Soap gets up and approaches the crashed Pave Low with only his knife. He sees Shepherd and moves in for the kill. Shepherd counters by slamming Soap onto a destroyed car and stabs him in the chest. Shepherd proceeds to inform Soap how he "lost 30,000 men in the blink of an eye" and proceeds to empty his .44 Magnum revolver, loading two bullets in it - supposedly one for Soap and the other for Price. However, just before Shepherd shoots Soap, Price tackles Shepherd and the two engaged each other in a brutal fist fight. While Price manages to hold his own, Shepherd ultimately gets the upper hand, but the heavily wounded Soap is able to pull the knife from his chest and throw it into Shepherd's left eye, killing him. Price regains consciousness and inspects Soap's wounds as Nikolai arrives in a helicopter to extract them. Nikolai warns them that they will be pursued, but Price insists that Soap should receive medical attention. Nikolai mentions that he knows a safe place to go to "Da, I know a place" and Soap and Price, now globally wanted criminals went into hiding. "Special Melees" Added into the Remastered Campaign are several points in the game where the player can sneak up behind certain enemies, click and hold the melee button, and perform a specially animated melee attack. Cliffhanger The first two guards Roach and Soap come across, the player can run up to them before slowly sneaking up behind them. Roach will take out his two icepicks and kill them both. As the player sneaks through the base, in one of the first buildings a guard is sleeping on a chair. Roach will kick the guard off the chair and slam his head on a table. The Only Easy Day... Was Yesterday The one guard leaning on the railing before the first breaching sequence. Sneaking up behind him, Roach will perform a throat slit before pushing him over the rail and into the water. Just Like Old Times The one guard having a smoke after the large group of Shadow Company patrols walk out of the cave. Soap will perform a throat slit from behind. Endgame The first pilot crawling away from the helicopter wreckage. Soap will use his knife, the pilot will struggle to stop Soap's hand, but his knife will reach his neck and Soap slits his throat. The second pilot laying wounded next to the wreckage will pull out a G18 pistol, but it clicks empty. Soap will push the gun away and stick his knife into the pilot's neck. Published 1 week agoon August 11, 2022 Both PlayStations fans and Sony itself have expressed concern over Call of Duty becoming Xbox and PC exclusive, but Microsoft have reiterated their claim that the games will remain on PlayStation, giving one simple reason why. Microsoft announced their shock buyout of Activision Blizzard back in January 2022, with the deal set to close in Summer 2023. While Microsoft previously stated that there are no plans to make Call of Duty Xbox and PC-exclusive, Sony still expressed concern. As reported by VGC, Microsoft responded to these concerns in a document sent to Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense CADE. Here, they accused Sony of blocking games from Xbox Game Pass and reiterated that it “wouldn’t be profitable” to remove Call of Duty from PlayStation. Microsoft acquired Bethesda back in 2021, and have already started making their games, such as Starfield, Xbox and PC exclusive. However, in this document, Microsoft insisted that Sony shouldn’t worry about Call of Duty being removed from PlayStation. “Regardless of how unsurprising Sonys criticism of content exclusivity is – given that PlayStation’s entire strategy has been centered on exclusivity over the years – the reality is that the strategy of retaining Activision Blizzard’s games by not distributing them in rival console shops would simply not be profitable for Microsoft,” claimed Microsoft. Microsoft gave several reasons why they wouldn’t remove future Call of Duty games from PlayStation, but it all boiled down to profit. “The hypothetical adoption of any content discontinuation strategy would not be profitable for Microsoft and, even if implemented, such strategies would have no competitive impact, for the reasons described above,” concluded Microsoft. There are also reports that there are contractual agreements that ensure the next three Call of Duty games will be on both Xbox and PlayStation. Image Credit Activision Call of Duty Huge Black Ops 4 campaign leak reveals scrapped Career’ mode details & concept art Black Ops 4’s scrapped campaign has reportedly appeared online in a huge leak showing off concept art and breaking down a ton of details. Published 1 week agoon August 10, 2022 Call of Duty Black Ops 4 went against the norm by opting to skip a campaign, despite it reportedly being in development for some time. Four years later, a leak puts together a ton of information about the scrapped Career’ mode which was set to be an online 2v2 experience. While Call of Duty players typically enjoy the blockbuster campaigns, it’s arguably multiplayer that brings them back year after year. Despite rumors suggesting that a Black Ops 4 Campaign was in development, the game launched in 2018 without a single-player mode. Now, almost four years later with Modern Warfare 2 on the horizon, a ton of info has dropped detailing exactly what Black Ops 4’s campaign mode could have been. Reddit user Purpletoaster20 said this huge post in the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit was the result of “months of research & discussion with people who have inside knowledge of this mode,” and it includes images of internal powerpoints, concept art, and a detailed breakdown of each mission. The campaign was dubbed Career’ and would be an online 2v2 mode where players would “race to the finish” against the opposing duo, and whichever side won would affect how the rest of the session would progress. Taking place in a post-Black Ops 3 2070, there would be “The Year of Chaos” after a pandemic and climate disasters would “heavily diminish the world’s resources.” Each duo would pick their preferred faction, and then need to battle against AI to complete their objectives ahead of the other team. Plus, there would also be PvP sections with Blackout mechanics, where death would result in respawning back at a base near to the action. This mode would have counted towards player progression, with each Black Ops 4 season adding several new missions for players to complete. Four missions were “nearly complete,” and the Reddit user detailed them all in the Reddit post. In these missions, players had to complete Call of Duty-esque objectives such as blowing up convoys and hacking and defending terminals. But why was this huge mode canceled? According to the Reddit user, it was “due to technical issues & the overall gameplay loop being described as too repetitive,” as well as the release being pushed forward by a month. They also claim that the leaked gameplay wasn’t from the campaign, but was actually from a Specialist HQ mode. The Reddit user said they’ll be putting all of this information together in a 30-minute video on August 18. Comme nous pouvons le constater au fil des semaines, le remaster mais aussi le reboot est nul doute la mode de cette année 2020. Fini le Battle Royale et rebonjour aux jeux qui ont déjà connu leur succès d’antan. Après un reboot de sa saga Modern Warfare, la franchise Call of Duty sort ce 23 mars, soit presque 10 années après, le Remastered de Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, rehaussé par le studio Beenox. Mais que vaut ce nouveau remaster ? Est-ce que ce petit clone sera mieux que l’original ? Je vous dis tout. Un retour aux sources Tout d’abord, il faut préciser que ce jeu ne possède que le scénario original de l’époque. Oubliez tout de suite le mode multijoueur ou encore les célèbres opérations spéciales même sur écran spitté. Le jeu réunit seulement la campagne sans doute la plus aimée de la franchise, et basta. Une chose que je trouve vraiment dommage, car cela donnerait un contenu plus important et donc plus d’heures de jeu à compléter. L’histoire se situe cinq ans après les événements du premier épisode, que l’on avait pu revivre avec son remake commercialisé en 2016. Au départ de jeu, un message du jeu nous propose de passer une mission afin de ne pas choquer les joueurs. À travers 3 actes principaux et 18 missions re vivez la gloire de ce titre. Une alliance militaire américano- britannique contre le terrorisme et son leader actuel, Makarov. Si vous avez déjà fait l’histoire à l’époque, sachez que très peu de différences y sont apportées. À tel point que les fameux renseignements les collectibles du jeu se trouvent au même endroit que dans le jeu original. Le lot de nouveauté se trouve plutôt dans les graphismes, les couleurs et les PNJ présents dans le jeu. Oubliez ce film légèrement verdâtre du jeu original, Beenox enrichit les couleurs du titre donnant un côté plus réaliste, mais surtout, remodèle chaque personnage non jouable que cela soit en termes de modélisation 3D ou dans leurs réactions. Chaque personnage a donc eu droit à un bon lifting pour une seconde naissance. Le framerate n’est pas sans reste avec une parfaite tenue de route à 60 IPS. Pour les plus chanceux, le HDR10 ainsi que la 4K proposés vous plongera au cœur de batailles épiques avec une vingtaine d’armes disponibles et quelques variantes proposées ; comme la lunette ACOG, la vision thermique ou le lance-grenade. Beenox a parié également sur l’animation des personnages plus fluide, et exprimant plus de réactions faciales au fil des missions. Mais également dans l’environnent qui se trouve être plus réaliste, un exemple avec des fougères plus réelles à Rio alors que sur Xbox 360, elles semblaient aussi fine qu’une feuille de papier. En matière de succès, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered en compte 50 pour 1000 G. La plupart nécessitent des actions spécifiques, recueillir les collectibles et finir les missions dans une difficulté vétéran. Like clockwork, we've come to expect a new CoD game every year, as Activision rotates through Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games. The last time we didn't have a new game was all the way back in 2004, but keen to fill that Cod-shaped hole in our lives, new reports claim a Modern Warfare 2 remaster is on the way. In March last year, Activision gave hope to the beloved franchise entry with the surprise drop of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Since then, the idea of a fully remastered version of the 2009 classic has refused to go away. With worrying claims Vanguard is a "f*****g disaster", it sounds like Sledgehammer needs to take the upcoming game back to the shop for a tune-up. Thankfully, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be here to save the day. The big news here is that we're still on track for a 2021 release, however, it won't be the widely publicised Vanguard. Instead, Activision is tipped to release Modern Warfare 2 Remastered and neatly slot into the publisher's roadmap. Adding to this, ZestyCODLeaks says Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will sit alongside 2019's Modern Warfare, 2020's Black Ops Cold War, and Warzone - providing content "throughout 2022". Elsewhere, leaker MW2 OG claims they've heard about the troubles at Vanguard HQ. As well as there being no concrete release date for the WWII title, there are continued concerns it won't make a 2021 release date. With this in mind, MW2 OG has heard whispers of a Modern Warfare "revamp" that will include content that was cut from the 2019 game and parts of MW2. Players already know Activision hasn't completely abandoned MW2. When the remastered campaign released, buying the game also gave you access to the "Classic Ghost Bundle" for Modern Warfare and Warzone. Is Modern Warfare 2 Remastered coming in 2021? There are talks of some kind of "revamp" for MW19, or a flow of more content for it. There's so much unreleased & potentially saved for MWII. And, of course, CW at the front and center. Activision is known for changing things around at the last minute. Then again, ZestyCoDLeaks is sure this is what's going on. They also stuck their neck out on the line and said they already had this information but held off on posting until they were 100% sure. Considering Activision has been clamping down on leaks in the wake of Cold War, it's a bold move to make from the trusted leaker. A final wink in the right direction is the fact Activision apparently slapped a DCMA takedown on the leak when it was discussed on Discord. There were criticisms that the remastered MW2 campaign didn't include a multiplayer element. Remembering multiplayer is many people's CoD bread and butter, there were hopes devs were holding out on multiplayer for a fully remasted Modern Warfare 2 further down the line. Releasing the campaign could've been a way to test the waters to see if there was still potential in shipping a remaster. Industry insider Tom Henderson the one who branded Vanguard a f*****g disaster has previously suggested Sledgehammer's troubled title will still release in 2021 thanks to a “recovery map”. For the time being, we're lost in our own warzone of 4chan leaks, rumours, and speculation. Whether Activision is about to deliver a fatal blow to Vanguard and give Modern Warfare 2 Remastered a chance to shine remains to be seen.
